Born and raised in Goldsboro, NC, Janet worked as a clothing buyer and manager for Nowell's Clothing after college. She married and moved to Johnston County and learned the art and craft of custom picture framing under Master Framer Jack Amirian who was an incredible artist and custom framer in Goldsboro.
After giving birth to her son Paul, ("The joy and pride of my life!) Janet opened The Gift Box in Clayton offering monogramming, custom picture framing and personalized stationary and gifts. At that time, Clayton was a small, rural town with a population of about 2200. Though she had a loyal customer base and made many great friends, Janet closed the business after only four years and waited for the growth to come as she worked as Director of Clayton's Chamber of Commerce, sold advertising for The Clayton News-Star, and managed Taylor Temporary Service for the Clayton area. During that time, she continued to frame from her home.

Owner and Custom Framer
And the growth came. Janet attended a custom picture framing school in Atlanta to brush up on all the newest conservation techniques and learn how to use new equipment. Then, in 2000 she again opened a retail business in downtown Clayton. Right Angles Framing and Art has moved several times until landing at the present location in the Barbour Building at 401 East Main in Downtown Clayton.
Janet has the perfect Main Street location, and folks are always stopping by to catch up, grab a cup of coffee and see what's new in the gallery. Often they leave with a treasure created by a local artist or even one of the washcloths or scarves crocheted by the owner.
Janet Lowry has been an integral part of the Clayton business community for many years. She has been framing for 27 years and that expertise combined with her willingness to listen to your thoughts and ideas results in a beautiful piece of art.
